Creating Your Own Reality

If you want to be a bodybuilder, someone who sets themselves apart from the general population of slobs, then you cannot conform to everyday bullshit. Trust me, everyday bullshit will bring you down.

As I've gotten older I have realized that I either A) Get along better with the younger guys who still have hopes and dreams or B) Get along with older guys who choose to live the fitness lifestyle and walk a different path.

I do not associate well with most guys in their 30's and 40's. Think about the majority of people and how they live day-to-day. Their day starts out with watching some depressing shit on the news, then talking about it, or talking about the recent game and speaking as if they are some sort of guru on the subject when they really don't know shit. Then lunchtime or evening rolls around and again they watch the news and are reminded of how fucked up the world has become.

That is no way to live, especially for a bodybuilder. If you truly like this lifestyle and want to set yourself apart, you have to create your own reality. My reality is a world of superheroes and men that are larger than life itself. I don't care who thinks it's stupid, or what they say about my life. Fuck em! Fuck every one of em'!

We have this standard nowadays as to what deems a person as successful, and it's nothing but material bullshit! If you don't drive this type of car you're not successful. If you don't live in this neighborhood then you're not successful. If you don't work this type of job then you're not successful. Well how about peace of mind for crying out loud? Nobody ever takes that into consideration.

I urge every one of you to take this day and make your life into something you enjoy. Don't even look at the material garbage and your neighbors, look within yourself. Ask yourself what truly makes you happy. Every one of those material possessions you so long for, guess what? They will get old after a month and you'll be onto the next thing.

It becomes like a drug, and before you know it you're going to be in a world full of dissatisfaction and chasing the horizon! And you're never going to get there either, you'll never realize what you had. I've seen the most successful people walk around miserable as hell, and the poorest people walk around happy with life.

I'm not saying you shouldn't strive to better yourself or better yourself financially. But you have to be happy with you as a person before anything else can fall into place.

I'm a weird dude, I'll admit it. One day I could be listening to some heavy metal on my radio, and the next day I'm listening to upbeat Christian music. I like the metal for the energy, but I could give a damn about the lyrics. But every once in awhile I'll turn the station to the Christian channel. It's uplifting, it's powerful, it's positive!  Who wants to listen to all this new age shit with no meaning, no purpose? It is brainwashing people every day, and not just the music it's everything. Everything from media, social media, people, politics, it's everywhere you look. Don't you get tired of it? Don't you wish you could live one day that was pure and where you did not have to be bothered with everyday negativity and evil?

Create your own sense of reality

Well, the answer is simple. You need to create your own sense of reality. Now I'm not telling you to be a recluse, but when you walk around on a day-to-day basis if ANYTHING breeds negative thought stay the hell clear of it! Conversation, TV, whatever, just get away quick! When you start living a positive life and thinking positive thoughts then your physique will follow suit. The mind is the biggest influence in what you will ever do with bodybuilding. So what if people think you're weird, or don't conform to everyday shit!

The important thing is to actually like the person you are. I've been in points of my life where I couldn't stand the face looking back at me in the mirror. Unfortunately that is where the majority of people are at with their lives. Don't be that guy, be someone you want to be! Become your own best friend. Because in the end, when you're dead and gone, the world don't skip a beat!

Be your own hero, live well, prosper! Ignore the everyday bullshit. And remember, there was one man who went against the grain and had everyone thinking he was a fool. And he was crucified for it, but nobody has ever stopped talking about him have they?

Be your own person, fuck the haters, block out the negativity!

  3. I know that I’m late to the party as I just found this website, but this was a REALLY great article and exactly how I have been striving to live my life more recently. Block out and remove all of the negativity and walk a path of positivity where my prayer everyday is to be a witness and a light to all that I come into contact with. There is so much hate and darkness in the world that we as individuals must take it upon ourselves to BECOME the very change that we want to see in the world. We can not rely on anyone else to do this for us. This is OUR life and we must be the captain of our ship!

I’ll be reading more and keeping up with this site JD. Thanks again.
